Veterans Day is a time to pause, reflect, and recognize the men and women who have served our country.

But for many veterans, service doesn’t end when their military career does—it simply takes a new form.

That’s exactly the case for Scott Dunn, a Residential Mortgage Loan Originator at Morgan Financial, who continues to serve others right here in Brevard County and across the Space Coast.

A Calling to Serve

In February of 1988, Scott left his hometown of Plant City, Florida to join the United States Air Force at just 20 years old.

When asked why he chose to serve, his answer reflects a mindset shared by many who wear the uniform—a genuine calling to serve something greater than themselves.

During his time in the Air Force, Scott worked in aircraft structural maintenance, primarily on AWACS aircraft—advanced systems used for surveillance, target detection, and tracking.

His service took him around the world, including deployments during Desert Storm and assignments throughout the Middle East in countries like Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey.

Serving on the Edge of the World

One of the most unique chapters of Scott’s career took place at Thule Air Base in Greenland, one of the northernmost U.S. military installations in the world.

There, he was cross-trained in space operations, with responsibilities that included monitoring for potential missile threats during a critical period in global defense.

The environment was extreme, with temperatures dropping well below zero and conditions unlike anything most people will ever experience.

But for Scott, what stood out most wasn’t the cold—it was the people.

Being stationed in such a remote location created a deep sense of camaraderie among those serving. Surrounded by fellow Air Force members, Canadian military, and international civilians, the experience became one of connection, resilience, and shared purpose.

Transitioning to Civilian Life

After 21 years of service, Scott retired from the military in 2009.

Like many veterans, the transition into civilian life came with challenges. Moving on from something that had defined his entire adult life was not easy.

But finding the right environment made all the difference.

A New Way to Serve

Scott found that opportunity at Morgan Financial.

Working alongside a veteran-owned leadership team, he discovered a culture that felt familiar—built on teamwork, trust, and a shared mission.

Today, Scott continues to serve in a different way: helping veterans, active-duty military, and homebuyers navigate the mortgage process and achieve homeownership.

“Working with veterans and active duty military gives me a chance to continue to serve,” Scott says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone reach that moment of getting the keys to their home.”

Service That Continues at Home

For many in Brevard County and across Central Florida, working with someone who understands both the VA loan process and the military experience can make a meaningful difference.

It’s not just about getting a loan—it’s about working with someone who understands the journey.

Bringing It All Together

Veterans Day is a reminder to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who have served.

But it’s also a reminder that service doesn’t stop—it evolves.
